How to Make a Wedding Checklist

By Martin Bryant-Harrison

In anything that we do, whether preparing for a simple party, for a family vacation and most especially in preparing for a grand event, we need to make a checklist to serve as a guide for us on the important things that we cannot afford to miss. Doing this requires focus and this needs to be decent enough for us to easily understand and make some necessary changes on.

A wedding checklist can be made on a simple piece of paper, and can also end up on one big binder together with all the necessary documents needed for the preparations and on the wedding day itself. This has to be kept handy so that the couple or the wedding planner can easily take it along with them. It would also be good to have it neatly organized so that it would be easy for the couple to understand and can quickly locate important details that they might be looking for.

A wedding checklist serves as the master list for the entire length of the wedding preparation. It is where a full list of all the wedding details is found, from the smallest to the biggest. It is also where you can find a list of the couple?s schedule of activities they have to attend to.

To plan for a perfect wedding would mean that the couple would have to set aside ample amount of time for it. There are a lot of decisions to make and heaps of work to do. Here are several facts that a wedding checklist must comprise of, starting from the choosing of the wedding date until the day of the wedding itself.

The couple must first agree on a wedding date. They might be selecting a date that already has a special meaning to them, or could depend on the length of time they think it would take them to prepare for the wedding day. This is important because after setting the date, they would have to inquire if the church would be available on that day, as well as their chosen reception venue. A couple might have to make some changes if there won?t be available slots on their chosen date and time.

The couple also has to decide at an early stage of the wedding preparation if they would get a wedding planner to help them. They would have to check their budget if this can still be allowed. Quite a number of couples have busy schedules with work, which would only let them spend a little time for the wedding preparations. If so, a wedding planner is one of the most important asset a couple would need. Services from other people are also needed, such as the photographer, musicians or wedding entertainers, baker to do the wedding cake, chef for the food on the wedding reception, and an expert seamstress who can make the gowns and tuxedos for the entire bridal entourage.

The wedding motif must also be agreed on by the couple. This is an important aspect because the rest of the details would have to follow the chosen wedding motif. The couple could even think of a desired wedding theme if they wish to have one. Based on this, the couple would then need to search for the flowers that they want. It is wise if they would seek for help from a local florist to make all the necessary flower arrangements for them.

Last-minute preparations must be on the wedding checklist, as these are deemed to be the most important finishing touches of the whole preparation. It is important that the list must be arranged so as not to miss on the little details. As the day of the wedding comes near, the couple must make sure that the items are also checked according to the schedule. A carefully planned wedding would definitely be worth all the hard work and sacrifice that the couple has gone through.
