Solitaire Engagement Rings - An Enduring And Well-accepted Choice

By Adrian Jones

Solitaire Engagement Rings

Solitaire Engagement Rings Mean Unceasing Love

From solitaire engagement rings to Celtic wedding bands, on Orkney there are plenty of innovative, classic and vintage designs to grace your fingers for years to come. You will find Scottish and Celtic styles to ensure they are that bit more different and heart-felt. Some rings have engraved endearments while some show the world you care from the symbols they represent, say for example a knot ring for endless love
or the ever-popular Heart ring. Solitaire engagement rings speak for themselves.

In times past a lot of people found love on the shores of Orkney, including young couples who were thrown together while serving in the armed forces during World War Two. The regional services newspaper during that time was packed with wedding announcements.

A filmmaker in Orkney, Mark Jenkins, has just been chosen to produce a new work of art designed to express the cultural heritage of Scapa Flow where many of those people were stationed. Mark said he was mainly attracted to the memoirs of service people dispatched to Orkney that are found in Nina Brown's Scapa Flow. Mark Jenkins has worked on many movies over more than two decades. His credits include editing the BAFTA Scotland Award winning "Ma Bar" in 2009 and Peter in Radioland voted Best International Short Film at Glasgow Film Festival in 2010.

The short 12-week residency, funded by the Scapa Flow Landscape Partnership Scheme is located at the Pier Arts Centre in Stromness which will culminate in a new film which will be screened in June 2012.

Inspiring Solitaire Engagement Rings

Orkney jewellery designers are continually inspired by the landscape and the culture of these rough islands. You will find there's a never-ending cycle of the latest work. Next month you will find thousands of new examples of paintings, ceramics, textiles and jewelry on show at the Pier Arts Centre. This is an open exhibition for local people and it's always mind-boggling to check out the skill exhibited.

So it's no wonder that folks that live here, have visited or are just interested in our culture and the riches of our artwork, return to buy heritage and vintage pieces. And it is a natural progression that lovers choose our Celtic wedding bands and solitaire engagement rings as soon as they choose to get spliced.
